Expectations of the next Government for Science & Technology Scale-Ups and Funders
Main Routes to Support and Grow the UK’s Tech Industry
Parisi has consulted nearly 100 deep tech companies, covering quantum computing, nuclear fusion, next-generation semiconductors, edtech, agrotech, biotech, data centres, and applied AI, about what they want to see from the next Government. Additionally, we have representatives from venture capital funds, trade associations, think tanks, and legal advisers. We heard from companies in various regions, including Wales, Liverpool, Chester, Bristol, Manchester, Oxford, and Cambridge.
The views represent our direct call to ask what their main pinch points are, as well as discussions from our events with Chi Onwurah MP, Labour's Shadow Minister for Science, Research and Innovation, Gareth Davies MP, the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, and George Freeman MP, the then Minister for Science and Technology.
This whitepaper calls for a coherent and long-term strategy to address skills shortages, power constraints, and infrastructure investment while emphasising the importance of international collaboration and joined-up thinking across government departments to support the tech sector's growth and global competitiveness.
